NOMINATIONS: The Nominating Committee (Brett Riggs, Chair, Eddie Lawler and Ernie Alexander) are soliciting nominations for Board positions.  If you, or someone you know, would like to run for President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, or one of the two open Board positions, please complete the Nomination Form found on the Quick Links page of the website and e-mail the form to Brett Riggs (address at the bottom of the form).  The deadline for submitting forms is September 15.

PARTY ON THE PORCH:  Come to the Club tomorrow night (Saturday) to enjoy a fun night sponsored by Atlantic Appliance and Hardware – Kevin and Mark Edwards.  There will be free beer and wine, music by Chris Bellamy (Jimmy Buffet style), and food by the Tacos El Jeffe food truck.  It’s going to be a great night!

NEWS ~ JULY 31, 2022

PARKING STICKERS AND WRIST BANDS: Member parking stickers and member wrist bands are available ONLY for current members. Significant others, boyfriends/girlfriends/fiancess whether live-in or not, are not allowed to have vehicle stickers or wrist bands. Also, significant others are not allowed to come to the Club without the member present. Each member family is given one sticker unless the member is married or has children who drive, in which case they are given two. A single member who has 2 automobiles registered in their name can request a 2nd sticker. However, the second sticker may not be given to a significant other nor can the significant other drive the member’s car to the Club. Significant others may get a guest sticker or guest wrist band when they visit the Club with the member.

Saturday, August 13, 6-9pm ~ Party on the Porch!  Music by Chris Beallamy – Jimmy Buffet style music. Food by Tacos El Jefe.  Hosted by Mark and Kevin Edwards ~ Atlantic Appliance and Hardware.  Free beer and wine, along with mixers if you BYOB.  There is no charge for this event; however, you must call the Club office by noon on Thursday, August 11 to put your name on the list.

Members were very pleased with the hoodies we offered last fall. We received quite a few more orders than expected and heard rave reviews.  There have been requests for HSC long sleeved tees, so we decided to offer them as a PREORDER item also.

You must place your order by e-mailing ewbeall@gmail.com.  Be very specific about what you want to order.  State long sleeved tee or hoodie, color as noted in picture, and size.   Once you place your order, you will be responsible for purchasing the hoodie. No refunds will be given.  Orders are due by Thursday, August 4 at 6:00pm. We expect them to be available for pick up at the Club office around Labor Day weekend. Any preorders not picked up by October 1 will be charged to the member’s account.  We will ship orders for a fee of $10.  Shipping fee may be higher for large orders.  If you want your order shipped, state that in your order e-mail and list the shipping address.

The hoodies, made by Jerzees, are Nu-Blend pill resistant fleece. They are 50/50 cotton/poyester with front pouch pocket, and ribbed cuffs and waistbands. The hoodies will have the HSC logo on the front left chest area, with the line drawing of the Club on the back. All printing will be white.

The Bella + Canvas long sleeved tees are Triblend 3.8 oz./yd², 50/25/25 polyester/airlume combed and ringspun cotton/rayon, retail fit, 2″ ribbed cuffs, coverstitched collar, side seams, and rear away label.  Printing will be the same as hoodies.

As of today, there is ample stock in all colors and sizes; however, it’s possible that by the time we place the orders some may be out of stock. We cannot control supply chain issues.

Please make sure that you have your order complete an correct before e-mailing it to Elise.  It can get very confusing when we receive multiple e-mails changing orders.  Due to the large number of orders submitted, we will not respond to orders, but will answer questions you may have.

These tees and hoodies will make great holiday gifts!  We realize it’s so hot outside that people aren’t thinking about cooler weather.  Order now!  This is the last merchandise order until next spring.

News ~ July 16, 2022

July 4th Celebration:  The crowd was a little smaller than usual, but the fun was enormous!  The weather forecast looked miserable, but only a shower after lunch kept our members off the beach. The decorations were very festive! We were able to have the opening ceremony, parade, and pictures with no problems.  Instead of games on the beach, we had games on the volleyball court.  The children had a grand time with the balloon toss, water balloon fight, egg race, and tug-of-war.  The adults tug-of-war was small – but very competetive!  There was also the beloved fishing pond and cup cake walk, along with guessing games on the porch!  We had quite a crowd for the pulled pork lunch.  The annual horse shoe tournament was won by Taylor Brown and Jeremy Greene.  A tremendous thank you to all of the volunteers that made our celebration possible.  We appreciate your efforts!

Telephone Answering Machine:  We have two telephone lines in the office.  If both lines are busy, which they often are, the answering machine will not pick up.  If you call and don’t get an answer, wait 10 minutes or so and try again. We generally only have one staff member in the office at the time, so please be patient if you are placed on hold or don’t get an answer. If you leave a message, someone will get back to you as soon as possible.  If your message is left after the office closes, it won’t be returned until the next business day. Thanks for your understanding!

Board Elections:  It’s almost time to elect new officers and 2 new Board members.  Please consider running for the Board.  If you know of someone who would be a good fit, please talk to them about volunteering their time.  Our Club can only be as good as the leaders who keep it running!

Long Sleeved Tees and Hoodies:  We will be placing a special order for long sleeved tees and hoodies in the next couple of weeks.  Like last fall, members will place their order for size and color.  Once you place your order, no cancellations will be allowed.  Keep a look out for ordering information!

NEWS ~ JULY 1, 2022

4TH OF JULY UPDATES:

1.  Parking stickers – Only GREEN stickers will be allowed in the parking lot prior to 4:00 pm.  Guest parking passes are not allowed before 4:00, either.
2. Weather – The weather forcast is for scattered showers.  May times when we have that forecast, it might be cloudy/rainy in town, but beautiful at the beach.  If we do have rain, we will have whatever activities we can. We’ll just have to play it by ear.
3. Lunch – The deadline has passed for ordering lunch.  Regardless of weather, lunch will be served.  If you made reservations, you will be responsible for paying for them.  There will be space to eat inside, under the tents outside, or in the dining room.  You can come grab a take-out if you prefer.
4. Since we cannot have games on the beach due to high tides and little space, we will have games for the children in the sand lot (volleyball court) in front of the Club at 11:00.
5. There will be a table on the first floor so that you can buy beautiful HSC merchandise without having to put on dry clothes to go upstairs.  All sales will be charged to your account.

New Windsock 

Thanks to Eddie Lawler, Mike and Cher Pridgen, and Bo Wessell for the new pipe and windsock at our soundside property!

New Gate

If you haven’t been the Club in the past couple of weeks, you may not have seen the new gate at the front of the property.  It matches the beautiful fencing.  The gate swings freely in both directions, so it’s easy to get through even when holding beach chairs, beach bags, or babies!  We appreciate all the Facilities Committee and Board have done to keep our Club in good repair and looking beautiful.

FEEDBACK:

We are interested in feedback from the membership. Quite a few members have placed suggestions, complements, and concerns in the Suggestion box inside the 2nd floor door.  However, there are quite a few members who rarely venture upstairs.  We have a new e-mail address that you can use to send  your comments. BINGO:

Come to the Club on Wednesday, July 6 at 7:00 for Bingo hosted by the infamous Steve Lee.  This Bingo often fills up, so come early to grab your seat.  Also, be sure to bring a prize to share.

PARTY ON THE PORCH:

The Party on the Porch held Saturday night was great fun.  We had a good crowd, great weather, delicious food, and wonderful music.  What more could you want?

4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION: We still need volunteers. If you can volunteer, please come to the brief meeting on Monday, June 27 at 6:30 on the first floor of the Club.

Change of events: Due to unusually high tides, there is not enough space between the high tide line and the right of way for beach patrol vehichles to have beach games. So the games are being cancelled for this year. In fact, there is very little room for beach chairs, umbrellas, shibumis, etc. If you are coming to the beach on the 4th, please try to use as small a footprint as possible for your beach equipment so all members can find a space.

Lunch:  Don’t forget to call the office to make reservations if you want to enjoy the delicious pulled pork lunch. It’s so easy – you don’t have to bring a picnic, just walk through the line and have a wonderful meal. If you make reservations, stop by the office before lunch to pay and pick up your ticket!

Merchandise:  Merchandise will be available for you to purchase on the 1st floor. Look for the table on the porch! Payment will be charge to your account only. If you would like to pay cash, write a check, or use a credit/debit cart, you can go to the office to purchase anything you like!

Parking: Only green stickers will be allowed in the parking lot until at least 4:00 on July 4th. Secondary stickers and visitor’s parking passes will be give out after 4:00 if space permits.  Visitors are allowed, but they cannot park in our lot.  Be sure to wear your green wrist bands and get guest bands, if needed.

PARTY ON THE PORCH: It’s not too late to RSVP for the Party on the Porch, Saturday, June 25. This party is sponsored by Lee and Kathy Bujalski of Coastal Printed Products.  There will be free beer, wine, and mixers. The food Truck Mommiez will provide food. Music will be provided by Lee Pearson.

MERCHANDISE!

We have a good variety of merchandise for sale on the 2nd floor.  We have koozies, blue or red stadium cups with lids, hats, and tees.  Prices are extremely reasonable.  We keep our markup down to make merchandise affordable for our members. Tees are available in toodler and youth sizes, as well as ladies cut and unisex in a variety of sizes and colors.  Come check everything out in the display case on the 2nd floor. You can purchase merchandise any time the office is open!

NEWS ~ June 12, 2022

NOTE:  When making reservations for rooms, dining room meals, or special events, please be sure to indicate if more than one member number will be used.  It makes it so much faster when you check in!

GRAVEL LOT:  Thanks to everyone for keeping the fence on the gravel lot closed.  If you are entering/exiting the lot when the parking lot attendant is on duty, she will help you.  When pulling up to turn in, be sure to use your blinker so she will know you want to get in the lot.

SNACK BAR HOURS:  The snack bar is open Tuesday through Friday 11-2 and on Saturday and Sunday 11-3.

TRASH CANS:  Remember, there are no blue trash barrels on the beach.  Bring your trash to the cans on our porch or take it home with you.  But please do not litter our beach.

VOLUNTEERS FOR JULY 4TH:  We are still in need for volunteers for July 4th.  There will be a very brief meeting of volunteers on Monday, June 27 at 6:30 on the first floor of the Club.  PLEASE come if you can volunteer for a short time on July 4th!
