Hanover Seaside Club Prepares for Hurricane Irene

In preparation for Hurricane Irene, all kayaks should be removed from the boating area as soon as possible.  Sailboats need to be tied down to prevent them from blowing.  The Hanover Seaside Club is NOT responsible for any kayaks, sailboats, boats or other personal property left at the pier.

The seafood dinner scheduled for Friday evening has been canceled.  Breakfast will not be served on Saturday.  Please watch this blog for posting of further cancelations.

From a news release by the Town of Wrightsville Beach . . .

The Town of Wrightsville Beach officials will decide whether or not to declare a state of emergency and enact a curfew at a Board of Aldermen meeting to be held Thursday, August 25th at 5:00 p.m.

Hazardous surf and dangerous rip currents are already affecting our coast, and life-threatening ocean conditions are expected to continue through the weekend. At this time, The Town of Wrightsville Beach has NOT issued a mandatory evacuation for residents; however, residents are urged to stay away from the shoreline.
