Notice that we do not have all sizes and have very few of the sizes/colors listed. To reserve, you must call the Club office at 910-256-2726 during office hours. Since we have so few, do not leave a message. These are going to sell out quickly, so we need to speak to you individually to let you know what is currently available. OCEAN WALKOVER REPAIR: Repair to the walkover will begin on Monday, November 22. Due to the holidays, it will take about 3 weeks to complete. Be prepared to use the beach access at 605 to get to the beach while repairs are ongoing. Please do not walk under or around the duplex. Cut through the gravel lot as close as possible to the berm to cross over.

News ~ November 13, 2021

MASK MANDATE: New Hanover County rescinded the mask mandate effective Friday, November 12. Masks will no longer be required inside the Hanover Seaside Club. If numbers start to rise, we may have to revisit this requirement.

WALKWAY: The repair to the walkway to the ocean will commence in the near future and is expected to take approximately two weeks. The first step is to remove old lumber which will then be replaced. The new walkway will be slightly wider than the current one, making it easier for members to pass each other on the boardwalk. Otherwise, the design is very similar. While the repair is ongoing, the walkway will be closed. Members needing access to the beach during the time that the walkway is closed should cross through at the ocean side of the gravel lot and use the walkway at the 605 S. Lumina property. Do NOT walk under or around the duplex – just walk as closely as possible to the berm and go over the path to the beach. The duplex is rented quite a few days and we do not want to disturb the tenants.

WE NEED HELP DECORATING FOR CHRISTMAS! Come one, come all! We need as many hands as possible to help us prepare the Club for the Christmas season. Meet at the Club on Saturday, November 20 at 9:00am to help us decorate. If you can’t be there until later – come on down!

THANKSGIVING ACTIVITIES: The Thanksgiving Buffet on November 21 is full. Thanks to all who made reservations early. We still have availability for Chili on the Pier the evening of Flotilla. Chili with all the fixings will be served at 6:00pm. The cost is $10/adults and $7/children. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, November 24 at 3:00pm.

HOODIE ORDER: We expect the hoodie orders to be ready for pick-up by the end of the week. We will send a message to let everyone know exactly when pick-up can begin. If you asked for your order to be shipped, the order will be billed to your account when it is shipped. All orders must be picked up by December 17. At that time, any remaining orders will be billed to your account and stored at the Club until the Club reopens in February.

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES:

Cookies With Santa – Saturday, December 11 at 10:00am. Please bring a wrapped gift with your child’s name on it to the party. Call to make reservations by Wednesday, December 8 at 3:00pm.

Adult Christmas Party – Saturday, December 18 4:00-6:00. This is a member only event for adult members. Call to make reservations by Wednesday, December 15 at 3:00pm.

There is no charge for either event; however, reservations must be made so that the staff knows how many to prepare for.

WILLIAM (BILL) BLAKE:

William Henry Blake passed away on Thursday, November 11. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his many family members who are HSC members. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 14 at 2:00pm at Burgaw United Methodist Church, 110 E. Bridgers Street, Burgaw, NC 28425

NEWS ~ NOVEMBER 1, 2021

ANNUAL MEETING: Regular members met on Saturday, October 23 for the Annual Meeting. With Covid numbers on the decline, hopefully this is the last parking lot meeting we will have. The meeting was fast and easy. Elections were held and the budget was passed. No Constitutional changes were proposed and it was determined that dues would remain the same for 2021-22.

Officers serve one-year terms. Elected for 2021-22:

Board of Directors serve three-year terms. Below are Board Members and the year their term expires:

Leaving the Board after completing their terms are Elise Beall, Mackey Hughes, and Armistead Boyd. The Board will appoint a member to serve the last year of Dan Harris’s term.

MASK MANDATE: At this time, the New Hanover County Mask Mandate is still in effect. This means that masks must be worn at all times inside the building except when actively eating or drinking. It is expected that the mandate will be rescinded in the very near future since Covid numbers have decreased substantially. Until it is we must follow the mandate. We’ll keep you informed.

MOLLENE MATTHEWS SMITH: Our love and prayers to the friends and family of our retired manager, Mollene. For many years, Mollene helped raise our children, plan our parties and special events, cook our meals, bake our cakes, and give our Club the loving, family atmosphere that had us all coming back year after year. She wasn’t just our Manager – she was our friend and for many of us part of our family. For the past few years, Mollene has battled cancer. She fought the good fight, but went home to be with her Savior on Saturday. The family with receive friends at the Club on Friday, November 5 from 4:00-7:00pm. Flowers may be sent to the Hanover Seaside Club for the family.

SHIRLEY EDWARDS MOORE: Long time Club member Shirley Edwards Moore passed away October 26 after a lengthy illness. Shirley always had a smile on her face and kind words to share. Our love and prayers to her family and friends. Her obituary can be viewed HERE.

OFFICE HOURS: The office is closed on Mondays. It is open Tuesday through Sunday 9:00-3:00. The downstairs remains open during daylight hours at this point. If the weather turns cold and we have freeze warnings, the downstairs will be winterized. We’ll keep you informed.

MEAL SERVICE/PARTIES: Regular meal service has ended for the winter. There will be special meals and member events during the winter, so be sure to watch for announcements. THANKSGIVING BUFFET: Sunday, November 21 at 1:00pm

Menu: Turkey with gravy, green bean casserole, mac and cheese, collard greens, maple whip sweet potatoes, stuffing, rolls, pumpkin pie. $16/adults and $8/ children. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, November 17 at 3:00pm. Number limited to the first 50 reservations received.

FLOTILLA CHILI AT THE PIER: Saturday, November 27 at 6:00pm. Come enjoy chili with all the fixings. $10/adult and $7 for children. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, November 24 at 3:00pm.

After the Flotilla, members are invited to the dining room for cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate. Come socialize with you Club friends and have a cookie while waiting for traffic to clear out!
